Polo Ralph Lauren Shorts

These shorts originally had a 9" inseam, which we chopped down to 7" due to some rough stains and wear and tear at the hems. We left the edges raw and stabilized them with three rows of reverse chainstitches using silk threads. A couple of buttons were also missing, so we replaced all with natural corozo buttons.

We first dyed the shorts with indigo and then overdyed them in myrobalan to create a bright, electric green with undertones of blue. The silk chainstitch remained closer to blue, creating a subtle contrast at the hem.

The shorts are labelled as size 32. Listed below are major measurements.

- dyed with indigo (indigofera tinctoria) and myrobalan (terminalia chebula)

- mordanted with oak gall tannin extract and aluminum acetate

- machine wash cold with like colors on a gentle cycle / tumble dry low / iron low as needed / do not bleach

- unevenness in dye uptake and gradations of hues are beautiful, distinctive, and intrinsic to the natural dye process

- naturally dyed clothing may transfer color before the first wash or two; until then, avoid contact with light colored objects and surfaces
