Our panelled-pocket jacket is cut from a woven twill blend of wool, hemp, and silk from Lanificio Bottoli, an Italian woolen mill founded in 1861, that is part of its eco-friendly, undyed collection. We lined the jacket with a Japanese cotton sateen that has a subtle sheen and enough slickness to throw it over any top. The jacket is unstructured and works well as a layering piece or on its own in temperate weather.
The undyed fabric reads as a two-tone twill. The taupe wool yarns stand alone, whereas the hemp and silk yarns are twisted together to create a two-ply, off-white yarn. Once dyed with myrobalan and immersed in an iron solution, the various fibers create a complex charcoal palette.
Note that slight variations in color may occur among dye lots and are attendant to the natural dye process.
